The school vision was written in 2021 by senior leaders with the involvement of key stakeholders.
In 2024, we are a school delivering on our promise that pupils and stakeholders are empowered to be Successful, Happy, Included, Nurtured and Enriched (SHINE). As a Church School we care deeply about each individual member of the Christ Church family, celebrating diversity, being mindfully inclusive and ensuring equality of opportunity. Wellbeing at all levels remains a high priority and attendance is very high.
We are inclusive in all we do. We build on and utilise the expertise of our Focus Provision staff to ensure that pupils' needs across the school are met and that those students in the provision are involved in the full life of the school. All pupils are nurtured to reach their full potential and develop life skills to prepare them for a successful future. We are committed to tackling and narrowing the attainment gap between SEND and non-SEND pupils, disadvantaged and none. We will ensure that all our learners, including those with a disability have access to the curriculum and that their school experience is a valuable and rewarding one. We encourage them to aspire to the highest standards and value themselves and others and the contribution they can make within the school and the wider community.
Pupils work exceptionally hard making better than expected progress by the end of KS2 in their studies due to a thirst for learning which is aided through curriculum design. The curriculum is exciting and motivates the students to want to find out more both in school and at home. We provide our children with the foundations they need to continue to grow and SHINE - sending them out into the world with confidence, independence, a wealth of experiences and a developed range of skills to become responsible citizens who can reach their full potential.
All children have access to a broad, balanced and exciting curriculum which builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills of all children, whatever their starting points, as they progress through Christ Church. Regular assessments ensure that we are able to track progress and attainment, targeting interventions and support where necessary so that pupils don’t fall behind.
By giving children a wide variety of learning opportunities and cultural experiences we ensure our curriculum develops children’s cultural capital. These include: providing children with a wide range of challenging texts to read across school; prioritising the teaching of vocabulary in every subject; frequent and purposeful learning outside the classroom and the provision of a broad range of visits and visitors to engage and inspire.
Through the Speech and Language hub in our new build we provide specialist support for pupils so that from entry, they develop the necessary skills to communicate. Specialist teachers also support the teaching of languages, physical education and reading. We also make links with organisations such as The Scouts; The Albion Foundation and Sandwell Music Service, to support and improve the quality of teaching, drawing upon expertise from the community to broaden children’s knowledge of the world and raise their aspirations for the future. Pupils enjoy a wide range of extra curricular activities and out of school experiences, including those which promote positive physical and mental health.

Our staff routinely share good practice and view teaching as a collective responsibility
- they are actively engaged in their own professional development. All staff are fully supported at every stage of their career development.
Our community hub and team of parent support staff ensures that support and signposting at all levels will be available. We utilise the skills and knowledge of parents to help enrich our curriculum whilst creating opportunities for parents to have a more active role in their child’s education and the life of the school. A range of events and activities are promoted to create a more nurturing environment.
With the Church space developed within the school premises, we work in a strong and creative partnership supporting our pupils and community spiritually, emotionally and practically.
