    Homework

Home Learning at Christ Church CofE Primary

As a school, we have created a homework system that takes into consideration the different points of view that were raised at parents’ evening through parental voice.

Some families felt that children worked at school during the day and so should have time relaxing at home and other families wanted to support their child academically at home further. Some families wanted to develop English and Maths skills and others wanted more creative opportunities.

As a result, Christ Church CofE homework offer is the following:

    SHINE homework projects

Each half-term children are given a set of projects to complete that range from creative art projects to research projects. These will be displayed and celebrated in class with some of the exemplary pieces being shared in a whole school gallery which all pupils will have an opportunity to view.

Maths and SPAG (spelling, punctuation and grammar)

This will be set on alternative weeks (one week Maths, then one week SPAG). Every Friday, children will have either a maths task or SPAG task to be brought in the following Friday.

    Reading

As a school we will not send reading records home, as we will keep records in school, but we will still send home a level specific book. We ask that you read with your child at least three times a week and discuss any texts with them. Once they have completed their book, we will gladly exchange it for a new book.

    Spellings and/or phonics

Spellings and/or phonics will be sent home weekly for your child to learn.

All work will be stuck into their homework books and sent home.  We request that all books are returned on Fridays so that children’s work can be marked and new work set.
